RAYCURE TETA (Triethylenetetramine, CAS 112-24-3) is a low-viscosity, high-functionality aliphatic polyamine curing agent for epoxy resin systems. Usage & Recommendations

Typical addition level: 12–14 g per 100 g epoxy resin (EEW 190). Mix resin and hardener thoroughly before application. Pot-life is relatively short at elevated temperatures — work in small batches in GCC summer conditions and avoid heat build-up in mass. Use of RAYCURE RD12 reactive diluent or benzyl alcohol as co-curing agent can extend pot-life and improve flexibility where required. TETA is a skin and respiratory sensitiser — appropriate PPE including gloves, goggles, and respiratory protection must be worn during handling.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both are primary aliphatic polyamines but TETA (CAS 112-24-3, AHEW 24.4 g/eq) has 4 amine groups and slightly longer pot-life than DETA (CAS 111-40-0, AHEW 20.7 g/eq) which has 3. TETA provides a marginally better balance between reactivity and working time, making it the more practical choice for most industrial applications. RAYCURE 238 (modified aliphatic amine, AHEW 76 g/eq) provides significantly longer pot-life than both and is preferred where working time is critical.

TETA is a skin and respiratory sensitiser. Mandatory PPE: nitrile gloves (minimum 0.4mm), chemical splash goggles, respiratory protection (half-mask with organic vapour cartridge in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces), and chemical-resistant apron. Ensure adequate ventilation — threshold limit value (TLV) is 1 ppm. Follow UAE and Saudi Arabia EHS regulations and the SDS supplied with every shipment.
