Cycloaliphatic Amine — UV-Stable Epoxy Flooring & Topcoats | GCC

Cycloaliphatic amine hardeners for construction applications deliver the UV stability and colour retention that standard epoxy flooring and industrial topcoat systems cannot achieve in the GCC's extreme solar radiation environment. For decorative epoxy floors, clear-coat sealers, and UV-exposed topcoats on GCC commercial buildings, retail spaces, and infrastructure — where end-users expect years of colour and gloss retention under intense UV exposure — cycloaliphatic amine-cured epoxy systems are the specification-grade solution across all six GCC countries.

Decorative Epoxy Flooring GCC — Retail, Hospitality, Commercial

UV-stable cycloaliphatic amine systems are used in decorative epoxy floor coatings for high-end retail, hotel lobbies, showrooms, and commercial spaces across GCC — where the floor is exposed to light from large windows and skylights and must retain its colour and gloss appearance for 5–10 years.

Epoxy Clear Coat Sealers

Water-clear epoxy topcoats over decorative metallic, flake, or quartz base coats — cycloaliphatic hardeners produce transparent, non-yellowing clear coats that maintain their optical clarity under GCC interior lighting conditions.

Light-Coloured Epoxy Floor Coatings

White, light grey, and pastel-coloured epoxy floor systems where yellowing from aromatic or aliphatic amine hardeners is unacceptable — pharmaceutical cleanrooms, food factories, and laboratory facilities across GCC.

UV-Exposed Concrete Sealers

Penetrating and surface epoxy sealers for GCC concrete surfaces exposed to UV — roads, car parks, and exposed slabs where long-term colour retention is required.

High-Gloss Industrial Topcoats

Final topcoat layer in high-build epoxy floor systems where maximum gloss and UV stability are specified — GCC showrooms, airports, and premium commercial interiors.

Usage & Recommendations

Mix ratio: 50–85 g cycloaliphatic amine per 100 g epoxy (EEW 190) — verify from actual batch AHEW. Accuracy in mixing is critical — low AHEW means even small weighing errors significantly affect stoichiometry and film quality. Use RAYCURE RD12 reactive diluent at 5–10% to reduce viscosity for spray application without compromising UV stability. Pot-life in GCC summer (45°C): 20–40 min — mix small batches and work quickly. Always apply in shaded conditions and avoid direct sun on freshly applied coating for 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — standard epoxy floor coatings cured with polyamide, aliphatic amine (DETA/TETA), or RAYCURE series hardeners contain aromatic ring structures or secondary amines that produce chromophores (coloured compounds) when exposed to UV radiation. In GCC shopping malls and showrooms with large areas of natural light from skylights and curtain-wall glazing, UV-induced yellowing of white or light-coloured epoxy floors can be noticeable within 6–12 months. To prevent yellowing in UV-exposed interiors: specify cycloaliphatic amine hardeners (IPDA-based) for all topcoat and clear coat layers. The base coat (not UV-exposed) can use standard polyamide or aliphatic amine hardeners to reduce cost. Contact Raykem for a full system specification.
